Ozone Laundry System Reduces Costs by 40 Percent

San Luis Obispo, CA (PRWEB) September 21, 2009

Research by ClearWater Tech, LLC, a leading designer and manufacturer of air and water purification technology, reveals that ozone laundering can reduce commercial laundry costs by nearly 40 percent. A recent case study of the EcoTex™ ozone laundry system compared costs to traditional laundering systems.

“Ozone laundering delivers many different types of savings – from decreased annual costs to tangible benefits for the environment,” said Cameron Tapp, president of ClearWater Tech. “Our ozone-laundering equipment increases a facility’s energy and labor efficiencies and provides a higher level of cleanliness and disinfection while lowering costs.”

The EcoTex™ Advanced Laundry Oxidation System uses the power of ozone and oxygen to enhance cleanliness and save money in commercial laundering. The research was conducted at Apple Farm Inn and Suites, a 104-room hotel located in San Luis Obispo, Calif., from late 2006 into 2007. The laundry facility at Apple Farm Inn consists of two 80-pound commercial washers.

Apple Farm Inn experienced savings of 38 percent in operational costs related to its laundry facility, which encompass water, chemical, electrical, natural gas and labor costs. The ozone system used 18 percent less water and shortened each cycle by 11 minutes. Additionally, 27 percent less hot water was used per cycle. With a shorter wash cycle, less detergent used and faster drying time, sheets and towels are softer and cleaner after laundering and have a longer life.

“With the cost savings Apple Farm Inn experienced, the ozone laundering system at paid for itself in less than eight months,” said Tapp. The savings extend beyond the four walls of the hotel laundry room – using less water, electricity, chemicals and natural gas also benefits the environment. Furthermore, ozone laundering positively impacts the work atmosphere, producing a cooler and better-smelling laundry facility as well as lower potential for mold and mildew growth in and around the washers.

Ozone Generators And Mold

(PRWEB) February 22, 2004

The Mold Consultants, LLC has released an independent report analyzing the effectiveness of ozone as a moldicide and sporicide. This report cuts through the hype and emotional entanglements often faced when homeowners and renters first learn they have a mold issue in their residence to give them the facts about the effectiveness of ozone to kill mold and mold spores.

Homeowners and renters are increasingly dealing with mold issues in their residence, and theyÂ’re finding out that proper identification and remediation is costly. Many of these homeowners are turning towards ozone and ozone producing devices as a way to deal with their mold problem.

Unfortunately, to many business people, mold sells. Products and services are frequently entering the marketplace that claim to effectively treat or kill toxic mold. Some are effective, and others are less effective. Still others are not effective at all.

As a consumer, we believe you should exercise caution when considering the purchase of any product. You should investigate the claims made by manufacturers and determine if the purchase makes sense for you.

We at The Mold Consultants, LLC have spent many hours studying research made available by various credible and independent sources on the efficacy of ozonators to “kill mold.” The information we have assembled is must-read material for anyone considering the purchase of an ozone-generating machine to deal with a mold problem in their residence.

Said Jim J. Hobuss, Principal Consultant for The Mold Consultants, LLC, “Increasingly I am being asked by homeowners and renters what the effectiveness is of ozone producing machines to kill mold. Most of these people already have a ozone machine, or are considering the purchase of one. As a result of these requests, we began a study to determine what other credible researchers, governmental, and scientific authorities had to say about these devices. The results of our investigation were interesting to us, and we believe they are interesting to others as well. So, we’re making this information available for free on our website.”

The results of the analytical effort, tailored for the general consumer, is available in a free summarized report on the companies website. The URL to the report is: http://www.mold-consultants.com/ozone.php.

“We feel it is important that people understand exactly what they are, and are not, getting when they consider the purchase of an ozone producing machine to deal with their mold problem. Manufacturers use words like “sanitize” and “cleanse” in their advertisement. To most consumers, these workds are synonymoujs with “kill”, and “eliminate”. Unfortunately, the words “sanitize” and “cleanse” have very specific scientific meanings that we believe might be different to what many consumers think. The reports we cite describe what the effectiveness is of ozone producing machines to “kill” and “eliminate” mold and toxic mold spores.”

Hot Tub Works Offers Consumers Tips for Alternatives to Heavy Doses of Traditional Spa Chemicals

Costa Mesa, CA (PRWEB) February 12, 2008

Now, it may finally be safe to go back in the water.

Hot Tub Works, a leading retailer of spa and hot tub supplies, answers questions about the benefits of Ozone for spas.

Why Ozone?
Spa ozone is the most powerful oxidizer and disinfectant that can be safely used in spas. It kills all known bacteria, viruses, yeasts and other nasties.
Ozone offers an alternative to heavy doses of traditional chemicals such as bromine and chlorine and while it can’t completely eliminate these chemicals, it can drastically reduce the required amounts.
Ozone is a safe, proven technology. It leaves no chemical taste or smell and it’s gentle on your equipment. In fact, the only by-product of Ozone is pure oxygen.
Ozone eliminates chloramines, the smelly, irritating, toxic by-product of chlorine.
Ozone oxidizes (“burns off”) problem compounds often found in spas such as hydrogen sulfides, iron manganese and arsenic
Ozone helps shock your spa to rid of oils and other organic compounds that combine to produce the dreaded Spa Scum Ring. How does Ozone Work?

It’s a little complicated but think of what happens when one’s no-good-low-life drunk Uncle Edger even gets near that immutable force of nature, your highly volatile Aunt Edna. Her very presence is enough to knock all the energy right out of him until he just sinks into a useless pile of muck. Edna is the Ozone and Uncle Edger is the virus/bacteria/slimeball you need to get rid of. It’s kind of like that.

Here’s a more scientific explanation: Ozone is an unstable compound generated by the exposure of oxygen molecules to a high energy electrical discharge. Oxygen molecules 0² are broken into two oxygen atoms 0¹. Each orphaned oxygen atom searches out another 0² molecule and attaches to it becoming 0³ (Ozone). An oxidation reaction occurs when there is a collision between an ozone molecule and a molecule of an ozidizable substance (bacteria, fungi, yeast, viruses, etc.). The extra molecule of oxygen breaks off and oxidizes (bursts) the bad guys while the remaining oxygen molecule moves on. Regret asking?

What kind of Ozone should is recommended?

There are two kinds of ozone generators. One uses UV (Ultra Violet light energy) and the other uses CD (Corona Discharge electrical energy). UV light mimics sunlight. Unfortunately, UV lamps produce a low output. On the other hand, CD energy is more like lightning, It is highly concentrated, uses much less energy than UV, is safe and is perfect for producing ozone in spas. Therefore, hottubworks recommends and sells DEL CD OZONE only.

Is Ozone all that’s needed to sanitize and keep spa water clean?

The quick answer is “no” but plenty of customary sanitizer and shock can be eliminated. If ozone is combined with a mineral sanitizer like Spa Frog or Nature 2, spa owners can use a fraction of the amounts of bromine/chlorine/biquinide. While not environmentally “perfect”, this combination is the safest, most effective approach for a spa sanitary system that seeks to reduce the use of harsh chemicals. There are some manufacturers who say spa owners can get away with less but consider this: The EPA has not approved ANY spa sanitary system that does not include at least some amount of Chlorine, Bromine or Biquinide. For those concerned about cutting chemicals, the Spa Frog Floating System is highly recommended as the most effective mate for a new ozonator.

A Texas First for Public Drinking Water Treatment

Denver, CO & Dallas, TX (PRWEB) May 9, 2006

The BiOzone Corporation, an ozone water treatment engineering firm based Denver, Colorado, has been contracted to design and build a process train for disinfecting up to 36,000 gallons of drinking water per day.

According to Guenter Moldzio, CEO of BiOzone Corp., the ozone-treated water will be a safer alternative to water treated with chlorine only.

“The system is designed to produce drinking water with significantly less chlorination disinfection byproducts, such as THM and haloacetic acids,” explains Mr. Moldzio.

In Fall of 2000, an East Texas power utility contacted BiOzone to look for alternative treatment technology to produce drinking water from surface-water sources. The traditional method of disinfection, using sodium hypochlorite and retaining the chlorinated water in a tank, would sometimes produce chlorination byproducts called trihalomethanes (THM) in excess of the acceptable limit dictated by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

BiOzone offered a modified process train which would call for ozone as the primary disinfectant, but also as an oxidizer to completely or partially oxidize organic compounds, which are precursors to the formation of THM.

According to Mr. Moldzio, THMs and HHA5s are known carcinogens. “It can be shown that the BiOzone process train nearly eliminates the occurrence of carcinogenic THMs and haloacetic acids,” he says.

Early in January 2006, the TCEQ granted permission to the utility to proceed with the construction of an ozone-based process train.

This development is significant for BiOzone’s future business since 400 other Texas water utility systems have been cited for non-compliance since the middle of 2004.

BiOzone Corporation is a world-leading manufacturer of ozone generators and ozone water treatment process trains designed to meet a wide range of water and air pollution oxidation needs.
